Educational & Service Opportunities

A schedule of classes, study groups and service opportunities will be listed through posts and sent to our email list.

Spiritual Direction & Integral Life Mentoring

Spiritual Direction is also referred to as Spiritual Companioning, Soul Friending, Spiritual Guidance, and Spiritual Mentoring. Essentially, spiritual direction is holding the space for another to come into deeper relationship with the Divine (God, Great Spirit, the Ultimate Reality), and to manifest that deepening in their lives.

Our approach is interspiritual* and we have years of collective experience in Christianity, Buddhism, Metaphysics, and Earth-based Traditions. We specialize in working with individuals who are called to the path of compassionate service and those who are in social service or healing professions. We also provide this service pro-bono to those who are living on the street, in shelters, or transitioning out of homelessness.

Email to schedule a complimentary initial session. Sessions are usually scheduled monthly either in person or by phone and last one hour. Cost: $50.

* Interspirituality is the deep unity of wisdom that exists at the core of the world’s spiritual traditions.

NextStep Fund

Charitable Giving Program for individuals who are homeless or transitioning out of homelessness. Gifts are often small and are for expenses such as bus tickets, identification cards, phone cards, post office box, cleaning supplies, emergency prescriptions, household furnishings, special projects, etc. Our giving is currently limited to individuals who are living in the Boise, Idaho area.

Jayne Sorrels, Director

I’ve been on an intentional spiritual journey all of my life. This journey led me to several ‘wells’: Christianity,  Earth-Centered Traditions, Metaphysics, Sufism, Hinduism, Contemplative Spirituality, Mysticism, Buddhism and Vedantism. What I discovered is that my heart is most aligned to the river of eternal truth that flows beneath these wells. The best term I’ve found for this is ‘interspiritual’; the space between traditions or the spiritual common ground.

I am called in two directions and the running question for me is how to effectively integrate both. One is about being the presence of love and compassion in the world -embodying this as fully as I can. This is about personal transformation. The other is about outer transformation and how best to respond from compassion to the suffering of the world.  Beacons of light for me on this path are Mother Antonia (the Prison Angel); Dorothy Day (co-founder of the Catholic Worker Movement), and Catherine de hueck Doherty.

I was a founding board member and now the Shelter Director for an interfaith homeless shelter in Boise, Idaho. Working at the shelter has been a great practice ground for learning how to  lean into and open my heart wide to pain and suffering - not shielding - not running. I think it was Pema Chodron who used the phrase ‘training in the fire’ - in talking about the path of the  warrior-bodhisattva. That would be an apt description.

I am a buddhist practitioner who is deeply interspiritual and am actively engaged in an integral life practice.
